Granbury Theatre Company: How to Beat the Winter Doldrums

Want a little magic after the holidays? Boy, do we have a treat for you! We recommend brightening up the months of January and February by visiting the Granbury Theatre Company.

Actually, the theatre has a whole season of reasons to visit them with their Broadway on the Brazos performances. 

Located in the crown jewel of Granbury’s arts scene, the Granbury Opera House, the theatre was originally built in 1886. In 2012, $3.5 million dollars was invested, and it was painstakingly renovated to stay true to the period in which it was built.

A treasure to the eye, you’ll see elaborate, imported chandeliers, original limestone walls, filigree iron balcony railings, elegant twin curved staircases, and pressed tin-inspired acoustic ceiling tiles.

Quite simply, it’s beautiful! With an intimate seating arrangement, every seat is “the best seat in the house!” What can you expect to see during the dreary first two months of the year? Laughter, nostalgia, and mid-winter fun!

January and February Plays at Granbury Theatre Company

From January 24-February 9, it’s the classic Spencer Tracy comedy play, “Father of the Bride.” A comedic ride on how a loving but overprotective father handles his daughter’s unexpected engagement announcement.

With a growing guest list, florists, furniture movers, and dressmakers, the wedding spins out of control. Take a nostalgic step back and enjoy a night of old-fashioned fun with this wonderful play!

Then from February 21-March22, the hit 1968 cult comedy film by Mel Brooks, “The Producers” is playing. Mel Brooks has always set the standard for outrageous, in-your-face humor, and “The Producers” delivers. 

The winner of 12 Tony Awards, this musical is about a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer who schemes to produce the most notorious flop in history. Unfortunately, the play is a huge success.

At the heart of the story is an emotional journey of two very different men who become friends. Don’t miss either of these plays.
