Texas Independence Day
On March 2nd & 3rd, 2013, the Texas Independence Day Celebration of North Texas will be held on the Historic Granbury Square in Granbury, Texas.
One of the highlights will be 9 year old Ridge Roberts, Granbury’s own featured fiddle player! Most of the songs that young Roberts knows by heart are those that speak about the beauty and history of Texas. The Independence Day Celebration will also feature the Buttermilk Junction Old Time String Band and Buffalo Bill Cody’s Cowboy Band. They will also sing tradition tunes of frontier Texas and some old-time American music to capture the spirit of Texas History.
Blacksmiths, leather workers, cotton spinners, wool spinners and beekeepers will be among the merchants representing their handiwork. Visitors can also sample authentic chuck wagon fare from the surrounding counties. There will also be Living History presentations about the Alamo and Davy Crockett, Wiiliam Travis, and Sam Houston.
Honor the fallen heroes of Texas, take in the sights, sounds, of frontier vendors, see horses and longhorn cattle, and join in the crowds to experience an truly Texas event that you will never forget!
