Texas Highways Magazine : Granbury, Texas Top Vacation Destination

We are excited that ‘the travel magazine of Texas’, Texas Highways Magazine, has voted Granbury #25 in its top 40 travel destinations in the state.  In addition, the March issue featured Granbury and the Inn on Lake Granbury in its top 40 destination article.

We are so pleased the article points out that our historic town of Granbury has so much to offer travelers and tourists.  All of the downtown shops are within walking distance from our Granbury inn, and offer boutique style clothing, décor, gift items, and furnishings.   The renovated 1886 Granbury Opera House (pictured here) showcases professional talent in its year round plays and musicals.

Located on the historic downtown square are quaint restaurants offering everything from authentic German food to Italian at Farina’s, and steak and seafood entrees at the upscale Eighteen Ninety Grille.   The town is also known for “ghosts and legends” such as Jesse James, Belle Starr, and a rumored town visit by Bonnie and Clyde.  An historic downtown wouldn’t be complete without an “Old Jailhouse Museum”, which spins tales of sheriffs and their badges, a gallows, and jail cells from years past.  For lunch, Paradise Bistro and the Fillin’ Station are local downtown favorites for delicious sandwiches – both within a short walk from the Inn.  If you would like to sample fine chocolates and pick up a bottle of wine to bring back to your room at the Inn, be sure to stop by the Art of Chocolate and Wine Shoppe.

The award winning Revolver Brewery, known for its best of class “Blood & Honey” ale, is a short drive from downtown.   For wine lovers, Granbury also boasts D’Vine Wine personal winery and Farina’s Winery and Café on the Square, and two award winning wineries, Barking Rocks Winery, and Bluffdale Vineyards, which offer wine tastings, and winery tours on weekdays and weekends.
